Hey there folks,
Just a bit of an update for you guys. Much as I tried to get some sort of core site up and running something personal came up which I must sort out first. On top of that I have been discussing some issues with members of staff that we will reveal at a later date. As for now the site is in a kind of stasis until I can find time to work on it a bit more.
Sorry Guys!
In other news: Pr0x has joined our staff team. He is an original and highly regarded member of doboys forums and his input in development will undoubtedly take this site to new levels :)
The hosts have kindly waived the charges owed and we are good to go. Unfortunatly I have a bit of business to take care of so i will have to suspend development another couple of days.
Sorry guys!
The current situation with the hosts is or has being or been resolved. Therefore I have decided to continue with the site.
Sorry for the delay, I will get the mixes available as soon as possible.
Due to recent server problems I thought I would fill people in on the current costs of running this site, that way people can help out if they feel the need to.
Our plans right now is to run 2 servers at a total cost of $11.00 a month so the final breakdown would be:
2 x $11.00 = $22.00 + the domain charge of $10.00
The more you donate the more we can afford and the more we can offer. So ultimately its up to you guys!
Earlier we commented about how much the hosting company was charging us. Apparently I have overstepped my quota by a LONG way (aprox 14GB) and now they are charging me $700 for the priveldg. I am desperatly trying to resolve the problem however it may cause problems on site for a couple of days.
My apologies.
We are currently in the process of uploading the mixes onto a server hosted in Berkshire, England. I myself have downloaded files from this server and get speeds of around 800 kbps which is awesome :)
Also we are adding thumbnails of the album art into the mixes page.
Stay Tuned!
After much deliberation I have decided to reopen the forums.
Users can now register and post so get over there and let us know your thoughts!
We have had a few problems with our hosts as of late.
The first host bailed out on us with no explanation. Our account was in good standing, bill free and running smoothly. As a direct result of this we lost files to all 6 sites that I host, along with databases and any other file or content. I then switched hosts only to find out that they did not support PHP5 yet, a reader that is ESSENTIAL to our coding here. After yet another host change we are now relatively happy with our hosts.
There is the small issue of a $700 dollar bill :s We are in the middle of sorting that out now and we hope to god it does get sorted as there is no way I will be able to pay that sort of money. Frankly I see absolutely no reason why we are charged that much. It says we are over our storage space by 14,000 MB yet on another portion of the site it says we have uploaded 30GB max and the maximum storage linit is 1,000 GB. Your guess is as good as mine.
In the meantime We have edited the layout a teensy bit [thanks to CrouZ for help with that], also we have streamlined the coding a little. We now have a banning system in place and we hope not to use it.
Over the next week or so I plan to go through my FTP and sort out an acceptable filing system for the mixes, update the database and make the mixes and documents available to the general public.
Resident DJs of the site will have their pages up in the next two weeks.
Currently we are looking for designs and layouts for the mixes page and the resident DJ pages.
Please leave any suggestions in the comments. Thanks.
